A recap of the weekend
Many thanks to Laura Rising for hosting Sound as Medicine at her busy
event barn, Hilltop Stables, in Woodinville, WA on May 12-15, 2006.
It was a weekend filled with discovery for students and teacher
alike. As a teacher I find the most enriching classes are the ones
where the teacher has as much fun teaching as the students have
learning. This was certainly the case in Sound as Medicine. As I led my
students through the basics of Chinese medicine, sound theory,
and sound healing I found myself also enriched.
Horse barns are wonderful places to teach. There are always plenty of
people and animals around, many usually in need of relaxation or relief
from some sort of ache or pain. This weekend was no exception as my
students were presented with a steady stream of horses, dogs, cats,
people and even one goat, all seeking sound healing for pain or discomfort.
As a teacher it was
very exciting to see the students testing their newly gained skills in real-life
situations. As the weekend ended I felt quite confident that the
students were ready to take their newly gained skills out into the world
and use them with care and understanding.
If that isn’t what all teachers dream of then I don’t what is.
